Diving and snorkelling in Malta

Malta has some of the clearest waters in the world and summer sea temperatures average out at a mild 23ºC. With numerous caves, coves, cliffs and sheltered creeks you will never run out of places to explore and with so many diving options in so many places a diving experience in Malta is never very far away.

Beginners are well catered for in most Malta diving establishments while more experienced divers can go cave diving to get the most out of the rocky Malta coastline. The clear waters afford great underwater photography opportunities and the chance to see thousands of species of marine life in their natural habitat.

For experienced and adventurous divers, the sea bed around Malta houses other, slightly more grizzly attractions - shipwrecks. Some of the wrecks are victims of war time confrontations while others were actually scuttled to form tourist attractions for divers.

The Malta Marine Foundation website is a useful resource for diving enthusiasts travelling to Malta.
