Mellieha Bay, Malta tourist information

photo: Holidaymakers enjoying the sun in Mellieha Bay

Mellieha Bay is home to the largest sandy beach in Malta and is a popular tourist resort. Mellieha village was developed under British colonisation and has grown in popularity with locals as well as tourists since.

The village and bay area have everything a tourist needs with hotels, restaurants and tacky gift shops in abundance. Popeye village is just down the road and regular bus services run through Mellieha and the sea front area.

When visiting Mellieha for the beach or on a day trip try and see the WWII shelters. Over 500 metres of shelters dug completely by hand that helped local people survive two and a half years of almost constant bombardment.
