Malta time is one hour ahead of UK time. On 1st January 2008 Malta adopted the Euro as its currency. No visa is required for UK and EU passport holders. Malta has a Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild winters. Malta enjoys hot summers with virtually no rain and the sea breeze keeps the temperatures manageable and the mosquitoes away. Malta has very few sandy beaches so make a note of their locations before you travel to save time. English is an official language in Malta alongside Maltese. Italian is also widely spoken. Bars may give you your receipt for drinks served at the bar on a small plate. You can leave a small tip if you like but its not expected. Prices are generally similar to the UK.
