The Island of Gozo tourist information

photo: View of boats in Mgarr harbour from the ferry

Gozo is the second largest of the Maltese islands but is less developed and more scenic and rural than neighbouring Malta. Just 31,000 people (Gozitans) live on an island roughly the same size as Manhattan.

Gozo has plenty of things to do and see. Victoria is Gozo's capital, dominated by the impressive Citadel. Other places of interest on Gozo include the Azure Window - one of the most photographed sights on the Maltese islands.

Gozo has been inhabited for some 7000 years and there are many archaeological sites of interest on the island including the Ggantija temples - purported to be the oldest free standing structure in the world.

Regular ferry crossings are made to Gozo from the Malta mainland. It is also possible to take a helicopter from Malta International Airport to the Gozo helipad.
